Leonid V. HUBERSKY
Rector of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Hero of Ukraine,
Honored with the Order of Liberty, the Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise (Fifth and Forth Grade), the Order of the Star of Italy by special award of Commander's title, and the State awards of Bulgaria, Georgia, Italy, Poland, Portugal.
Leonid V. Hubersky was born on 4 October 1941 in the city of Myrhorod, Poltava area. Leonid V. Hubersky finished Myrhorod secondary school #3 in 1958, and Myrhorod Ceramic Technical School in 1961.
Leonid V. Hubersky started his working career as an engineer in a sugar manufacturing plant in the Kharkiv area. During 1961-1964 he served in the USSR Armed Forces. In 1969 Leonid V. Hubersky graduated from Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv Faculty of Philosophy; in 1975 finished his post-graduate studies and successfully submitted his dissertation for a Candidate of Science degree and in 1992 his Doctoral dissertation. Since 1973 Leonid V. Hubersky has worked at the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv as an assistant lecturer, a senior lecturer, then as Associate Professor and Professor, Head of Department, and Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy. From 1976 to 1978 Leonid V. Hubersky was an advisor to the Central University (the Republic of Cuba).
From 1982 to 1988 Leonid V. Hubersky worked as Vice-Rector of the International Relations at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, from 1988 to 1994 Vice Rector for Educational Work, from 1994 to 2006 Vice-Rector and Director of the Institute of International Relations of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, and from 2006 to 5 May 2008 was Director of the Institute of International Relations of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.
From 6 May 2008 to 27 October 2008 he was Acting Rector of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.
On 28 October 2008 a General Staff Conference of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv elected Leonid V. Hubersky as its Rector.
In 1995 Leonid V. Hubersky was elected Corresponding Member of the Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine, in 1997 Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, in 2003 Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, in 2010 Academician of the Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine.
Leonid V. Hubersky is an outstanding Ukrainian philosopher, an expert in the philosophy of international relations, the philosophy of politics and social philosophy, a renowned scientist and organizer of science and education in Ukraine.
Leonid V. Hubersky is an author of over 250 academic publications, including 50 single and collective monographs, handbooks and manuals, such as "The Man in the Sphere of Humanitarian Cognition", "Spiritual Renewal of the Society", "Material and Immaterial", "Culture. Ideology. Personality", "Philosophy", "Political Science", "Man and Society", "Philosophy of Politics" (in 6 volumes), "Ukrainian Diplomatic Encyclopedia" (in 2 volumes), etc. He has supervised postgraduate research for philosophy theses for 9 Doctors of Sciences and 16 Candidates of Sciences.
Leonid V. Hubersky is the editor-in-chief of "The Kyiv National University Bulletin. Series: International Relations", an Editor-in-Chief of the collected academic papers "Current Issues of International Relations", a member of the editorial boards of academic journals, including "Philosophical Thought" ("Filosofska dumka"), "Politics and the Times" ("Polityka i Chas"), "The Memory of the Centuries" ("Pamiat stolit"), "Tribune" ("Tribuna"), the collected papers "Ukrainian Periodical of International Law", "Problems of Philosophy" ("Problemy filosofii"), etc.

Leonid V.Hubersky has been made an Honorary Citizen of Myrhorod and Kyiv (2012).
